March 1, 2004..

Just heard today that I did get tenure. :)   Which is good given the rules of the game (you can not stay unless you get tenure).  In many ways I think I would rather see tenure done away with.  Have everyone on a one year or at most four year contract (correpsond to 4 years students typically are here).  But that said, as the rules are now written I am very glad that I got it and thanks you to all who wrote letters!!!! :)

More good news: it was warm enough that I ran in shorts!! First time in I do not know how long!  Winter may be slowly winding down :)  I hope I hope!!

February 13, 2004

Ok, so I am basically clueless here...should I be using blog software, or just an html editor?  I checked around and the blog editors do make i tseem easier, but for now this will suffice.

February 12, 2004 Well this is the first post.  Not really sure what I want to do with this page.  It sounded fun, but a blank page in pretty intimidating.

Random musings.  Why a random page?  Well many reasons:  I have many interests and many people I want to keep in contact with but for some reason never seem to have the time.  The initial reason for starting the webpage/newsletter was to keep in touch with past students and friends.  As the newsletter has grown and become more just of finance, I have missed that interaction.  So this is an attempt to getting some of it back.  I guess you can call this random musings, a weblog, or a periodic journal.  Basically this page will be a means of staying in touch with friends (new and old).

News and updates

Tenure process: I have had several people ask so...Still no word on tenure but my fingers are crossed.  I guess I would say cautiously optimistic.  It is now in the president's hands.  I will let you know soon.  I think they have to make a decision by February 27.

Bills new Coach: time will tell.  I think he could be good.  The talent is there.  Just need to put it together.

Bona Basketball has been having a very tough year.  They just have no depth.  Ten wins seems out of the question, but they are trying and I am hopeful things will turn.  I like what I see from an organizational point of view and they are a good bunch.  Hate to see them lose to much.  Best Bona bball link?  The Bandwagon

Need another reason to quit smoking? It  can cause impotence and infertility.  All I can say, is please quit. Smoking is really one of my pet peeves.  A classic example of short term thinking.

Bonas is about to name a new president.  Three candidates left.  http://sbunews.sbu.edu/

Read any good books lately?

I have few talents, but one is the ability to be reading several books more or less at the same time.  So some that I am currently reading/ristening to.

  1. The Price of Loyalty
  2. Tom Clancy's The Teeth of the Tiger
  3. Gentleman Revolutionary by Richard Brookhiser
  4. Lance Armstrong's Every Second Counts
  5. Founding Brothers by Joseph Ellis
  6. General Washington's Christmas Farewell
  7. The Last Train to Paradise
  8. Nothing Like it in the World by Stephan Ambrose
  9. Mozart's Brain and the Fighter Pilot
